The AVA Dinner Series is an in depth look at specific American Viticultural Areas in Washington State. We showcase wines made from grapes grown and vinified inside the AVA by resident winemakers. Through these lenses, we discover a sense of place for each region of Washington. For our fourth installment of this series, we will feature the highly acclaimed and historic Yakima Valley AVA. Washington state’s oldest AVA and sub-appellation of the Columbia Valley, the Yakima Valley tends to be a cooler region with an arid and semi-arid, continental climate and an average of 8 inches of precipitation annually. Because of this cooler climate, white grape varietal plantings outnumber red grape plantings - so much so, Yakima Valley is home to almost half of all Chardonnay and Riesling plantings in Washington. The red wines, however, are also stellar and notable for being less fruit forward and more dominated by savory notes. 

Dahlia Lounge Chef, Brock Johnson, is eager to kick off the season of spring with incredible food pairings with our friends and winemakers from Chinook Winery, Côte Bonneville, Owen Roe and Two Mountain. Join us as we share unique wines, tales from the vineyards and delicious fare from the heart of Washington wine country, Yakima Valley.

Applewood fired chicken with mushrooms, charred onion, green herb sauce paired with Chinook Cabernet Franc and Two Mountain Cabernet Franc

Fennel crusted lamb, hemp seed tabbouleh, beetroot yogurt and mint
paired with Owen Roe Yakima Valley Red (Cab Franc/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon) and Two Mountain Syrah

Rhubarb tart, cornmeal crumble, vanilla IC, lemon thyme caramel
