This coming Tuesday we’re opening the doors of the Palace Ballroom to welcome some of our favorite local distillers. A few of the company’s most creative bartenders will use these distiller’s spirits to create delicious cocktails. This is a great opportunity to see some of our local spirits in action and it might even inspire some home bartending tricks to impress your friends. Brave Horse Tavern bar manager Renee Somerset-Mucha will be whipping up an old fashioned style cocktail using Oola Waitsburg Bourbon Whiskey with her own cara cara orange marmalade and cherry coke bitters. The cherry coke bitters were made with a brandied cherry juice, kola nut powder, wormwood, and high proof vodka and allowed to steep for one week. Here’s Renee’s recipe:
Old Roy
1 1/2 ounces Oola Waitsburg Bourbon Whiskey
2 tablespoons cara cara orange marmalade
2 dashes cherry coke bitters
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a chilled old fashioned glass over fresh ice. Garnish with brandied cherries.
