Sneak Peek at Our New Test Kitchen!!/ By Shelley Lance, cookbook co-author

So excited about this sweet new space right behind the Dahlia pastry kitchen that Sean Hartley (operations manager) and Garrett Melkonian have cleaned up, fixed up, and equipped for recipe testing!  Garrett was formerly our executive pastry chef (a post which is now filled by Stacy Fortner) and we’re thrilled to have him back with the Tom Douglas team for awhile to work with Tom and myself on recipe development for the Dahlia Bakery Cookbook that’s now in progress.  Let’s get baking!!!!

That’s great! Can’t wait for the cookbook to hit the shelves. I hope the peanut butter cookie with frosting in the middle will be included!

  2. ShelleyL Says:

Yep, the peanut butter sandwich cookies will be in the book. Nora Ephron’s favorite cookie…. how could we pass it up?

  3. bruce Says:

    Yay!

I’m so glad to see Garrett back to help with this project. Please include eclairs and
the great multigrain roll recipe. Can’t wait for the cookbook (and camp)!

  7. ShelleyL Says:

I don’t want to spoil the surprises in the new book to say exactly what’s in it this far ahead. But I will say, that even though we have the thing pretty much plotted out, we really welcome your input. So if people let us know what recipes they would like to see in the Dahlia Bakery Cookbook, we will put those suggestions into serious consideration.

  8. Robyn Says:

I want that chocolate banana cream pie Garrett was crafting up a couple
years ago, I still have dreams about that luscious dessert!

  9. Dan Says:

I LOVE the pizza crust at Serious Pie!!! It will be awesome if the book can include some kind of flat bread that has comparable texture that can be made at home. PLEASE CONSIDER IT!!!! Thanks!! When will the book be out?

  10. Dan Says:

Oh yeah….and the FRIED DOUGHNUTS RECIPE!!!!

  11. ShelleyL Says:

We’re just getting seriously started on the book, though we’ve been talking about it for awhile. So we’re probably looking at approximately a year before it’s published.

  12. Chuck Says:

I’m liking Dan’s ideas, and I haven’t heard about this chocolate banana cream pie! Robyn? :)

Please include the chocolate truffle cookies in the book. I just returned to the east coast from a visit to Seattle and those cookies were the best cookie I have ever eaten. I don’t know when I will get back to Seattle and I would love to be able to make them at home!

  15. Tam Says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I LOVE the peanut butter cookies. The monkey bread is also a wish request for the book.

  16. Emily Says:

I second the chocolate butter pecan. That is a wonderfully tasty cookie!
