I am so sad to hear this. You two are the highlight of my Saturday afternoons! I have learned so much and really enjoyed your thoughts on food. I raise my glass of wine to you tonight with my homemade lo mein. Cheers.
    Kathy

  2. dane sorensen Says:

Now that is a real drag! I really enjoyed both of you chatting back and forth about
food. Guess they don’t know what a good thing is. Look forward to hearing you back
    on the radio soon.

  3. Kathleen Says:

I will really miss listening to you while I’m in the kitchen on Saturdays! Maybe you
can do a podcast with your new equipment that you got to take the show “on the road”,
    Tom!

  4. Jeff Marshall Says:

Unbelievable. You will be missed, and our Saturday afternoons will never be the same. We’re doing brisket “tom style” tonight, didn’t mean it to be in remembrance of your show but it will be!

  5. odie Says:

That is incredibly sad. I have been listening for years and making sure I turned on my radio at 4:00 and, when KIRO went to FM, turned on the computer to stream. There’s not a whole lot left of KIRO that just lets people listen to civil conversation on normal life topics. If it’s not about politics or negativity, KIRO doesn’t want it.
Hope to find you on a new station or imaginary radio (like TBTL)

  6. Eric Says:

What a loss to Seattle weekend radio. Listening to you guys became became my Saturday ritual!
I’ll miss the show more then you’ll know. Good Luck on your new ventures!

  7. Dean Says:

    Tom and Thierry,
Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your show over the last 5 years. It was always a joy to listen to the rapport the two of you had. It was also quite a source of amusement for my wife and I as we were often in the process of warming up leftovers or preparing something else very uninspired while you and your guests were talking about something that sounded very tasty. We were motivated to spend a weekend in Seattle just so we could take in a couple of Tom’s restaurants (would have loved to try Rover’s, but not with our 2 young children).
We will miss your great show and will certainly be looking for a new show.

    Thanks,
    Dean and Maria Moldenhauer

  8. morgan kane Says:

Sorry to see tom and terry go.Now there is no reason at all to turn on kiro over the weekend.
I hope you change your mind.
    Morgan Kane

  9. Erick & Sue Says:

    What horrible news!

My wife and I love to listen on Saturday evening as we enjoy our evening and make dinner.
Hope some other radio station is bright enough to have you work for them.

    Erick & Sue

  10. Jim Eaton Says:

    Hello

Sorry to hear that your informative talk shoqw is no more.

Please infrom your many listeners on which radio station you will be on next.

    Sincerely
    Jim Eaton

  11. Dale Gluck Says:

Yours was the highlight of the KIRO lineup. Here’s hoping you will pursue a replacement venue for the radio show.

  12. Judy Stevens Says:

I’m really going to miss you guys a lot and I’m feeling very sorry for myself.:) I thought I was 20 minutes late for the show and there was a strange voice coming out of the radio. No other way to say it; way to go bonneville-you suck!!! Right after you buy a remote board Tom. I sure do hope you can get another show on a different station. I’m not happy with bonneville at all-they have no vision. Ratings are NOT everything; where else are you going to find a two chef (was going to inlcude cooking soon)talk show. You had all kinds of information and oh I just can’t talk about it any more. I sent bonneville a very unhappy email.

    Judy N. Stevens
    West Seattle

  13. Sarah Says:

Please come back!!! I miss you and Thierry already! I just found out about the decision to dump your show on KIRO. It’s a shock! What will I do on Saturday’s now, between 4pm and 7pm?!? Better question, what will you guys do? Please come back with a podcast or something of the like. It would be great if it was ‘live’ though, so you could take calls from listeners. Good luck, Tom! Not like you need it, but you will be very much missed! I was really looking forward to the live broadcasts from the kitchens of listeners. That was such a great idea. I hope it pans out. Please keep me posted!
    ~Sarah :-)

  14. joyce r Says:

    WHAT?!! No Way!

I turned on the show at 4.30 today, as unsual, to hear you all and what is cookin’ and was surprised to hear the money talk show. Then I happened to look you up on the web and see this. What happened?!

Give us – your faithful listening fans — some more details. I hope this is temporary.
I have promoted your show to many people I meet for years now.
Can we have a gathering soon– But first send news.

  15. Evelyn Arrigoni Says:

so sorry to see you go. It was fun and informative to listen to you both. You always seemed to have so much fun! Best of luck and hope to hear you again soon.

  16. Dick Boedecker Says:

I’m very disappointed. I enjoyed the the two of you and your guests very much. I look forward to finding you on another station.

  17. Michael Kiefer Says:

This is the e-mail I just sent to Rod Arquette at KIRO:

    Mr Arquette
I was floored to turn on KIRO this afternoon only to hear Bob Brinker and not the Tom and Thierry Show. Then I go to your web site only to find its been canceled! I like Bob Brinker (newsletter subscriber) but never listen to him on your station rather downloading the podcast to avoidl the commercials.
You’ve made some show moves I appreciated (Frank Shiers over TBTL, Leo LaPorte on Sunday, etc.) but this one is totally crazy. And now you’re replacing it with “MyNorthwest Weekend”? Your web site (http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=56) doesn’t even have an active link that describes the show! Then you turn around and rerun the show again at the same time slot on Sunday?
If you want to get rid of a show dump the Phil Hendrie show. At least I’m glad its on at a time when I’m sleeping.
I will be checking Tom’s web site to see where he “pops up” next so I can get a chance to listen to the two of them again. At least I’m glad he purchased his on “op board” (as he described it last weekend) so he could broadcast on the road or from his house.
Other then Cisco (and now just 2 hrs!) and occasionally the Adam Bold infomercial show before it on Saturday mornings, no reason to listen to KIRO till Sunday evening…… sad.
I guess your decision must be a numbers things…. but the numbers must be “crooked”. I hope you’re receiving a lot of e-mails similar to mine.

    Mike

  18. name withheld on request Says:

Well, it’s a sad day in KIRO-land to learn that in fact the radio show has been
cancelled. I’ve listened since Day One & pulled for success ever since. I hope
another radio station sees the value in the show & puts it back on the air. Thanks
for all I learned, all the entertainment & for keeping me company many, many
Saturdays while I was preparing dinner, canning or just finding some kitchen
excuse to be in the kitchen with you. There were times I even took the portable
radio to the garden with me so I could listen. All the best.

If this is published, no name please. This isn’t about me. It’s about you, Thierry,
    Katie & the show.

  19. Teresa Says:

    I’m in mourning tonight.

  20. John Says:

This is a bummer! However, radio people in general are notoriously short-sighted. If I may make a suggestion, just do a straight podcast! Not that it’s the same genre, but Adam Carolla was cancelled despite having a successful show, and made the transition to podcasting. His loyalists followed, and spread the word. I think this could work for you, and you could do it at your convenience, from home, if you wish. Best of luck, and I hope the podcast version starts soon!

  21. Bill Says:

This is terrible. KIRO has made awful decisions for the past several years, and this is one of the worst. If you podcast this show I’ll certainly subscribe. Thank you for years of learning and great entertainment.

  22. Jason and Christina Bertolino Says:

Letting you know we’ll miss the show down here in Rancho Cordova, CA. We Loved It. Would you two please consider doing your own thing by podcasting your own show, on your own terms, with complete control over content, and even mobile too. Reply if you can. Love the all the restaurants, when we visit area at least once a year we try and visit as many as possible. Good luck. Later, J

  23. Kita Lux Says:

    Tom and Thierry,

We will MISS you every Saturday afternoon. My daughter Kelly and I always looked forward to your spirted banter about food and other things too. We find ourselves referring to food as “delicious and NOT delicious” because of you guys.

I hope that you find a new station for your show, KIRO has lost its way, there are so few reasons to listen to it anymore. With the loss of you guys the only person to bring me there is Dave Ross. For what was once such a great radio station it is sad to see these turn of events.

Anyway, you keep on keeping on, come back to us when you can. You know we are all waiting to hear of your next adventure.

    Kita and Kelly Marie Lux

  24. Karen Sparling Says:

What are they thinking at KIRO? One of the most innovative shows on radio….gone! So sorry! I’ll
miss you. Now my radio will be silent on Saturday.

  25. frank shoichet Says:

Which one is the French one?

  26. Sandy Smith Says:

Tom & Thierry (and Katie O, too),
You will be sorely missed! My heart is broken. I still had questions I needed answered! Guess I’ll have to find you. And I wanted you to broadcast from my home and didn’t even get the chance to enter…and what will you do with your new board you bought so you could do remote broadcast? Hopefully KIRO will reconsider or another station will pick you up. I hope so.
    Hope to hear you soon,
    Sandy

  27. Kevin Says:

Well guess my house will never get cleaned. On Saturdays every radio in the house was on so could listen to In the Kitchen while I cleaned house until 6:30 when would pour a glass of wine sit down and enjoy the last half hour. Thank you Tom and Thierry for 5 wonderful years.

  28. Terry Benish Says:

    Cheers to a great effort!

Perhaps this means that a TV show will show up for you…although radio really worked on Saturdays for me.

    Hats off!

    tb

  29. Nelson Says:

Somebody call the cops, cuz you we’ve been robbed of one of the last interesting and fun local talk shows in Seattle! Keep the culinary world posted as to where you land. We’re all hungry and must be fed!

  30. MM Fitz Says:

When I turned on my car radio on Saturday afternoon and got Money Talk, my heart sank. LOVED listening to you guys. Please let us know if you’re going to have a show on another station… we will listen!

  31. Jan Leonard Says:

Imagine my surprise when I tuned in on Saturday-to hear Bob Brinker. I called to my husband and said Tom and Thierry aren’t on, it’s money talk. He immediately got on line and then came in with the terrible news. I have been listening to your show since day one. I am absolutely outraged! After all the changes KIRO has made, your show was the only reason I tuned into them. No reason to bother anymore. I will miss every part-Amy, Katie, Mike!!, and all your knowledgeable chefs and authors. Saturdays from 4-7 is a tough slot, but you made it work so well. My Saturday plate will be empty. Here is hoping that some smart station(maybe KOMO who’s picked up everyone who has left KIRO) will be anxious to have you fill their air waves! Thanks for all the great ideas and laughs!

  32. Diane Noecker Says:

I can’t believe my favorite show is gone. I have spent many a year enjoying this show. Who is the idiot who canceled your show? I want to write in and complain. Some other radio station will be fortunate to get your show. Keep us up to date!

  33. dane sorensen Says:

After reading many posts…..I think a podcast is the answer! This way if I can’t get to a radio on Saturday afternoon I will be able to hear it at a later date.
I don’t know what it takes for a podcast but you need to do it!
    dane sorensen

  34. Jeff Lee Says:

I cannot believe KIRO made this decision. Seattle is such a foody and cooking city and I always looked forward to working on Saturdays and listening to your show. So many great ideas, recipes, guests, and good banter. Hopefully someone will fill this niche with you guys. Thanks for all the great Saturday afternoons!

  35. Andrea Says:

So sad. Any chance you two will start your own podcast? You have a lot of loyal listeners!

  36. Kate & Bart Says:

Thank you very much for many informative and enjoyable Saturday afternoons !!!

Can’t wait until you find an new home and resume the show.

In the meantime, look forward to seeing at your wonderful resturants….

    All the best..

  37. Katherine Barrett Says:

YOu will truly be missed ! I have enjoyed more than 75% of your shows over the past 5 years. I always made time to listen to your broadcast. Please keep your listeners informed if your are able to have a new show on KIRO or elsewhere. Maybe you could broadcast from a different restaurant every week.

  38. Chuck Bowden Says:

Astonishingly bad decision to drop Seattle Kitchen. Who’s next to cut? Dave Ross? That would make as much sense. Do you know who is listening? Nobody surveyed me about when I’m listening to KIRO. Everyone I know loves (sorry — loved) the Seattle Kitchen Show. Will there be a decision to install another right-wing sourpuss cynical talk show? Does your programming management department understand Seattle demographics? I’ve been a KIRO listener for decades, but I’m on my way out now. I’ll find another station.

  39. cindy and dan Says:

To Tom and Thierry, We are shocked!! Your show was the funnest part of the weekend. You will no doubt show up in some other form. We need to know everything about the family, the restaurants, the food world and Mike Tear (Sp.?) Pike and Western Wine Shop news. Thank you for all the five years worth of fabulous shows. Cindy and Dan (Also best regards to Katie Oh and the Green Garden Go-Go lady, Amy Pennington!)

  40. David Brown Says:

Easily my favorite radio program in Seattle, from a two-time (and the first!) Pinzon Amazon kitchen line winner. I’ve just removed 97.3 from my car radio. Now I won’t get upset when you get preempted by soccer…on the radio! Jeeze.

I would encourage all fans to write the station program mismanager.

What are you now going to do with that portable broadcast set, Tom? Please use it.

    Cheers, David Brown

  41. Lori Says:

I echo the comments of everyone else who cannot believe the show was cancelled. I loved listening on Saturdays while I cooked dinner with a glass of wine in hand. Hoping for a new show to begin soon!

  42. Jane Says:

Wow, what a shock. KIRO you made a big mistake!!!!! The only local show that features restaurants new and old and what is happening in Seattle. You guys were funny and knowledgeable about all aspects of food and fun. Will miss the show a lot. Hopefully, another smarter radio station will pick you up.
Really will mis Michael Teer. Learned so much about wines.

  43. Roger BelAir Says:

What can I add that hasn’t already been said? Probably nothing. Like many other the program was the hightlight of my Saturday afternoons and T & T were two friends. They will be missed and shame on KIRO.

  44. Devon in West Seattle Says:

I am appalled and soooo disappointed that the show has gone away. Like so many others who have written here, the show was a real buoy to me for my late Saturday afternoons. I’ll keep looking to see if there’s another show that materializes. Much love and bon appetit!

  45. Elaine Says:

OMG, I can’t believe KIRO cancelled your show. Your show (and Handle on the Law) were the only two shows I listened to religiously on the weekends and they’ve cancelled you both. What are they thinking???? Guess I’ll just have to turn my dial elsewhere, unless KIRO gets enlightened. Hope to hear you on the air again soon…..maybe another station? P.S. Thank you for the apron.

  46. Rob Sorbo Says:

Tom-So sad to hear KIRO cancelled your show!
Your show really was a highlight of our Saturday afternoons.
I hope you and Thierry really do consider going the podcasting route.
With your following you could pull in sponsors, do donations and maybe even create an iPhone app.
It’s working for Luke Burbank and TBTL.
Radio’s dead! Podcasting is the future!!
    KIRO management are idiots!
Best of luck in the future.

    Rob & Bonnie Sorbo

  47. Marsha Crivello Says:

I took my radio outside today to work in the garden and listen to both of you, Tom and Terry. But it was not you!!
I came back in and opened up the mynorthwest website and was shocked to see your show cancelled!!
I do not cook at all but I enjoy listening to both of you – hearing about various restaurants, recipies and just listening to people calling in with questions. I have learned so much and you have inspired me to start cooking again : )
I hope that you will possibly be able to find another radio station to pick up your show.
I just turned the radio to another station. I will really miss you!

  48. Susan Says:

I am sooo disappointed. I didn’t listen to commercial radio let alone radio on Saturdays until I found you guys. It has been great. So entertaining. So informative. I am an active listener, not writer, but there is such a void in my Saturday today. Thank you both for the hours of enjoyment and I wish you, and your crew/friends all the best.

    PS: There is KUOW???

  49. Chris Says:

I’m very sad! your show and affectionate banter has been the highlight of my week. I’ve enjoyed not only the great informative value, but the lively chatter and fun jabs. I’ll be crying a river! How can you ever be replaced? Boo hoo for everyone!
    xxoo

  50. Allen Welsch Says:

I don’t know how many meals I have prepared while listing to Tom and Thierry talk about food. It was a highlight of my Saturday to listen to your show, which by the way was the only show I listened to on Kiro. To say that you will be missed in a huge understatement. I can only hope that you return to the air soon. You will be missed my friends.

  51. Barbara Ladd Says:

Try KUOW, KOMO anything else you like just to get you back on the radio. I was shocked when I found out that KIRO had again made one of their idiot mistakes. They had two good programs now they are down to one. You two made my Saturday better.Thank you so much and please make an effort to return.

  52. Victor Says:

I agree with the other commenters regarding you guys being cancelled. I know it’s all about ratings and money, but you guys are great on the radio. I’m just a meat and potatoes guy, not a “foody”, but really enjoyed your show. Hope you continue with some type of on air program. Had fun at your anniversary/listener party last year.

  53. Dave from Puyallup Says:

Tom and Thierry three cheers for excellent radio and reaching out to a loyal/growing niche of folks who simply love good food. I am sure you both will do well in the long run, but for those of us who are hungry for your knowledge I sincerly hope you will be able to find your way back onto the airways or perhaps move to Podcast land. To KIRO/Bonneville… really, seriously, you have something better to put on a Saturday afternoon than a local show with a fan base that tunes in because they want to listen at home and in their kitchens, not simply because they are in their car headed from point A to B. Come back soon T&T so we can hear one of us cooking for you or see you do a show live at Pike and Western! So much potential!

  54. Mike Says:

Tom, Thierry and Kate O, it was fun listening to your intelligent and fun conversations about food on Saturday afternoons. I hope to hear you’ve landed on another spot on the dial in the not too distant future.

  55. Leslie Brainerd Says:

Tom, Thierry and the staff at ‘In the Kitchen,’ you will be missed on Saturday afternoons! Thank you for the wonderful show about food and cooking! You both are amazing chefs that have added so much to this community, and your radio show was so entertaining, infomative and a real treat!
KIRO is no longer worth listening to! It would be wonderful to have your show back on the air – if KUOW were smart they would sign you up immediately! Hope you will consider getting back on the air or on a Podcast in the near future!! All the best!

  56. Diane Jackson Says:

    Hi,

I too am incredibly sad – we have enjoyed your Saturday afternoon radio show so much that we have planned our activities so we can listen. We often have started the 4pm hour listening to KIRO while walking the dog, doing work around the house (in and outside – we like doing both), and as the hour progressed – we would get excited about what to cook for dinner or where we should go out – you had become a much-looked-forward-to addition to our Saturday!

As others did, we tuned in on Saturday, and was stunned when you were not there. We then went on line to see what the problem might be… When I saw the KIRO Saturday line-up without your program, I felt sick. I did send a polite inquiring e-mail to the KIRO program director, with my contact information – but no one has had the grace or courtesy to respond.

Thank you for bringing us your program the last five years – we have enjoyed it so much. I hope we have the opportunity to “listen” and be part of the conversation some time in the future (soon!). As others have said, we are down to listening to Dave Ross and Cisco Morris, but not much else on KIRO – we rely on KOMO for traffic and NPR/KING FM the rest of the time.

Lastly, thank you for all you do in the community – we are blessed to have you and Thiery and the rest of your crews who have given back so much.

    Diane Jackson and Courtney Rose

  57. Nick Beermann Says:

Think Podcasts and ’tis a pity, Adieu to Thierry, my old neighbor, and Tom, a great radio host….

  58. Rick Says:

What a shame. We hope you will find another station to host your show. One more reason not
to switch from KPLU to Kiro on a saturday afternoon.

  59. Patty Says:

I too have been listening to you both for years and made a point to start making dinner along with your show on Saturdays as often as possible. I could not believe it when I heard Bob Brinker that afternoon. I was sure it was a mistake. Well, it was KIRO’s stupid mistake. I know you both are incredibly busy with your restaurants and events and travel to perfect your craft, but if all possible, please come back to the radio. As you have read from all the comments preceding mine, we all feel the same and really want you both back. There is so little quality radio and I grew up listening to radio with ny mom. I remember listening to John Hinterburger religiously as well and now the only one left worthwhile is Ciscoe. You both are very informative along with your staff and guests and very entertaining as well. You have an excellent radio chemistry. KIRO has lost my support but I will listen to you both wherever you can find a place on the dial.

  60. Angela Says:

After hearing some random guy sub-ing for you last week, I was looking forward to tuning in TODAY & finding you back on the air … only to learn THIS! I truly can’t believe this.

  61. al Says:

Another case of history repeating itself!! If you listen long enough, it just gets curious and more Disturbing. Just WHAT goes thru the MINIMULLY functional mind (am being very generous here) of MisManagement and program directors in this supposedly World Class City?! It happened twice to Pat Cashman, and now to Tom, Thierry and Crew!! Just UNBELIEVABLE!! I guess the logic (if one can call it that) is ‘Do something, especially if it’s wrong’ As Mr Cashman was a perfect morning host, T & T “set the table” for Saturday evening radio. No disrespect to Bob Brinker, the canned shows have their place-As does an informative and entertaining local show. kiro, YOU BLEW IT!! Just couldn’t leave a GOOD thing alone. Time to find another station, Kiss Off kiro!

  62. Carole Says:

You were a Saturday ritual. Coming home having a glass of wine with our friends Tom and Thierry was a special NW treat. It feels like two good friends just moved away. Thanks for a great show. We miss you.

  63. Stacy Says:

I miss your show so much!!! I love to cook and acquired many great ideas from listening to you two, your guests and the occasional caller dish about cooking. Cooking is the heart and soul of our families and friends and KIRO should bring your show back!

  64. Jessica Says:

Bummer I will have to rely on the podcasts to fill my Tom and Thierry fix. The asparagus episode was my favorite, I do like the green better than the white.

  65. Eileen Says:

I was out of town when this happened, then on my return, tuned to KIRO for your show as usual — and YOU WEREN’T THERE! Just last year at this time enjoyed the Taste of Washington compliments of tickets won on your show. I always enjoyed the great chat about food, wine and restaurants. If you can, would love to have you back on the air! And definitely thanks for such a great show!

  66. Rick Hoonan Says:

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh No! It can’t be!
I’m a hack at food, well maybe better that but you have given me such great ideas. Love your sense of humor, your helping of other restaurants in the northwest. A couple Classic Chefs who are so entertaining for us foodies. By for now but see you around the corner.
    A winemaker….Rick

  67. Barb Beaman Says:

I have wondered for the past several weeks why I couldn’t get you on the radio. Sorry to hear your program has been cancelled. I like to cook and always looked forward to Saturday afternoons to learn about food and wine. Thank you Tom and Thierry

  68. Barbara Says:

My thoughts echo those already expressed. Please come back on another station–you are missed!

  69. Beverly Kidd Says:

its the only Podcast i care about, please make it happen somehow to hear you both again, your whole show& STAFF ARE GREAT. now what will you do on saturdays?

  70. lance/woodinvile Says:

You guys are wonderful; thanks for teaching me so much; we are all friends on facebook; stay in touch!!

  71. Seattlesal Says:

Haven’t been able to listen for a couple weeks. Came back and you were gone — Ack. I have listened for probably the last 3 years — as someone just learning how to cook with fresh/seasonal food, I found your show invaluable. You made it sound easy — which it isn’t always, but much less intimidating. The Corn & Blueberry Salad has become a household favorite.

Do keep us all posted on how we can continue to hear from you. Thanks for all your guidance, both of you.

  72. Mary Francis Says:

Okay, the first month or so we could find something else to do on Saturday afternoons….but now….we are really missing you…please come back into our lives!! Thanks, Mary

  73. Anna Garza Says:

Please come back to the air waves I have listened to each podcast at mynorthwest.com at least 3 times. I call it brain food. Bon appetit!

  74. Patrick Haight Says:

I really enjoyed the smiles you gave me each and every Saturday, and a better respect for the art and talent that goes into our tummy’s. Thanks to you two.

  75. char noll Says:

Such a bummer, KIRO has moved so far to the right, you’re recipes must have been too liberal!
Dave Ross is probably the next to go. Please find a new home on radio somewhere, loved your show.
