Cupcake Mania Part 2, by Shelley Lance/Blog Editor

The cupcake shop craze really has legs!  I would have guessed this trend would be winding down- aren’t there enough shops in Seattle serving nothing but cupcakes at this point?  Apparently there’s room for more, because Robyn Wolfe (Marketing) and I heard about a new one called Yellow Leaf right here in Belltown, walking distance from TDR offices, so naturally we had to head on over.

The shop itself is cute as a bug.  There’s a fun selection of cupcakes including a tomato soup version (a spice cake with chocolate icing- this one was my favorite) and a cherry-pomegranate cupcake with pink icing the sale of which includes a donation to fight breast cancer.  Robyn and I bought all seven varieties, carrying the box back to the office. The cupcakes were good with a nice homemade texture and fun flavors.  Seattle Foodies has also blogged about this cupcake shop and their post is what inspired us to give it a try.

If you really want to go cupcake crazy, you can startle the neighbors by buying this $25,000 cupcake car from Nieman Marcus!

Haven’t tried this place but the offerings look tasty. Our go-to is Trophy Cupcakes in Wallingford, close to our house. Can’t beat their triple chocolate (Our 4-y/o son’s favorite) with copious amounts of buttercream!
